Can we get started Pronto?
Dustin Bakkie
04:36
Hahaha
Dustin Bakkie
04:41
couldn't help myself
Dustin Bakkie
05:06
Hi Porter and Sione, thanks for hosting this training
Shawn Bates (he/him)
05:08
Hahah
Dustin Bakkie
05:40
Loving it so far
Dustin Bakkie
13:54
So is the only way to add new threads / sub-groups is to create them in Blackboard and assign participants?
Sione Ngatuvai
15:09
You can also create groups manually in Pronto. Porter’s showing this now in the demo
Ben Juliano
15:10
Can names be sorted by last name?
Sione Ngatuvai
15:23
Alphabetical by first name
Dustin Bakkie
15:49
Can you sort the people by associated groups/classes?
Sione Ngatuvai
17:11
Not currently
Sione Ngatuvai
17:49
But we do have a groups in common feature that can be done 1on1 to see what other groups you may currently share with a user.
Dustin Bakkie
18:17
Okay thank you. That would be a high priority feature. As a teacher with multiple sections, the DMs get a bit ugly to determine which section or course they are in
Shawn Ryan
18:55
Do you have an brief video/tutorials that explain the functionality or Pronto? One that we could share with students for them to become familiar with the tool?
Dustin Bakkie
20:10
Can you filter DMs in a similar way?
Sione Ngatuvai
20:12

June Covington
24:33
Wow! This just keeps getting better! Thanks!
Dustin Bakkie
25:17
I am loving all the Pronto has to offer so far. And hope to use it a primary communication platform as you suggest. However, as an email replacement, with 100s of students, as a teacher I need to be able to quickly tell which section students are contacting my from. Especially without a subject line. Checking shared groups is a REALLY slow way to do this for every DM every time for every student. Just the ability to filter DMs by class would make a world of difference for the usability.
Sione Ngatuvai
26:19
@Dustin appreciate the feedback, it has been noted.
Dustin Bakkie
26:32
Thanks @Sione
Dustin Bakkie
30:56
Can these be set as assignment reminders? So "assigned" to each member of a group individually? Or would they disappear as soon as someone claims and does it?
Shawn Bates (he/him)
31:11
^^ Upvote that question.
Shawn Bates (he/him)
31:30
I'd want to use them as assignment reminders for my entire class.
Dustin Bakkie
32:03
Exactly Shawn. So that each person gets it and can individually check it off as they finish
Emily Huang
32:57
If we instructors post an announcement in Blackboard learn, will that announcement automatically show up in students' Pronto accounts?
Dustin Bakkie
33:22
^^ I tried this yesterday, and it did not. Hoping to learn about that today
Sione Ngatuvai
33:40
Excellent feedback on tasks, we’ve had other teachers share that as well, the ability to have group tasks go to each individual. It’s been a discussion within our team with hopefully more to come.
Dustin Bakkie
37:52
Within DMs can you send an audio/video message?
Sione Ngatuvai
39:07
@Dustin yes, you can send you videos messages, but we dont yet have voice messages available on the app.
Dustin Bakkie
39:19
Awesome. Thanks @Sione
Emily Huang
39:57
If we instructors post an announcement in Blackboard learn, will that announcement automatically show up in students' Pronto accounts?
Dustin Bakkie
45:29
We really appreciate that!
Dustin Bakkie
45:36
Thank you!
porter rappleye
45:56
@Emily, Pronto does have an announcement feature but they are treated separately from Blackboard announcements. So no, Bb announcements don’t currently display inside of Pronto.
Emily Huang
46:27
Thanks, Porter.
Dustin Bakkie
46:27
@Porter, can we go over how to post announcements to groups? Haven't been able to figure this one out

Jeffrey Davids
47:00
@Porter, second the question about the announcement feature.
Kathy Fernandes
47:18
For putting Pronto in the menu, then that tutorial is here:

47:30
@Dustin, announcements right now are only available for admins which is probably why you are not seeing it, but yes, we can go over that.
Dustin Bakkie
48:15
Ah got it. So to clarify, as of now, instructors cannot post announcements to groups within Pronto?
porter rappleye
49:13
That is correct Dustin. But sending a message in the course discussion will be sent to everyone. Most teachers just use the classroom chat group for sharing important information to everyone.
Dustin Bakkie
49:52
Is there a way to flag it as high priority to ensure it doesn't get lost in the thread?
Jeffrey Davids
49:57
Seems like there should be a way to have "special" messages persist in a certain area, which intuitively would be named announcements...
Kathy Fernandes
50:22
Porter, for clarification, it’s able to do that once we get permissions set correctly, right? I thought I read in Pronto documentation that faculty can be set to “managers” and hence be able to do announcements. Or are you telling us ONLY admins will be able to send announcements, which means faculty can’t send announcements.
porter rappleye
51:13
@Dustin. Not at this time though there are some things coming in the next month or two that should address what you are looking for.
Dustin Bakkie
51:57
Awesome! Thanks Porter! I appreciate your all's openness to suggestions. Loving it and excited for the possibilities of what it can become
porter rappleye
51:58
@Jeffrey, the new stuff coming in the next couple months should address what you are looking for as well.
porter rappleye
52:50
@Kathy, it might be worth asking Sione this question. I believe announcements are only available to “Admins” but I could be wrong.
porter rappleye
53:14
Thanks Dustin! We’re excited as well.
Colleen Montini
54:05
Are the students being offered these same training classes?
Dustin Bakkie
54:41
Im solely using the Web interface and enjoying it
Kathy Fernandes
55:18
I’m trying to keep up for student tutorials but here is Pronto’s student documentation: https://support.pronto.io/en/articles/2870317-general-pronto-overview
Robert Utter
55:30
Do announcements go to all of our Pronto users, or are they specific to each course? Our instructors are used to Blackboard announcements being course-by-course. Mainly pointing that out in case there is a different name for course-specific announcements in Pronto.
porter rappleye
56:18
We have some videos and other resources that can be shared with your students, but these live training sessions are currently only available to teachers. The nice thing is that students typically pick it up really quick and don’t usually require training. If it becomes an issue though, we’d be happy to work with your school to figure something out.

56:53
Thank you Kathy, Porter, Sione. We are very fortunate to get this. I am just now learning that students want to text vs. e-mail. :) It looks like it will be easy to use.
Colleen Montini
56:57
Thank you
porter rappleye
58:12
@Robert, Announcements can be sent at the course level, but again, I believe that functionality is currently only available for admins. The feedback I hear from Blackboard teachers is that sending a message in the course chat group typically replaces the need to send course level announcements.
Dustin Bakkie
59:03
Thanks Pronto Team! Appreciate and excited for this feature and what it can become.
